What is Clipflakes?
Clipflakes is a free video search service that lets you create custom playlists of videos from top video sites on the internet through realtime video search. With Clipflakes you are your own Web-TV director! You can search the most important video portals for your favorite clips, create custom playlists, watch other users' playlists, contact them and simply let your creativity flow.
How do I find videos?
Simply click into the edit box 'START VIDEOSEARCH' on the Home page, insert one or more search terms, click Enter or the Go-button and here you go!
How do I create a video playlist?
If you search for videos, there automatically appears a new playlist named after your search term to the right. You can now add the most interesting clips from the results list to your playlist by clicking the button [Add to Playlist >>]. Just like a DVD menu the clips are clearly laid out and individually playable. In the list below the menu, you can easily bring the clips in the desired order just by clicking on the blue arrow button to the right in the clipbox and then moving the clip to the right position. If you want to delete a clip from the list, just click on the blue cross symbol.
How do I add further videos into my playlist?
Simply click the [Add to Playlist >>] button next to the found clips you like.
How can I change the length of a single video in my playlist?
You can change the length of a video in your playlist by clicking in the edit mode on the time stamp of a video in the cliplist, for example, '04:29'. This will open a box and you can insert a shorter time, eg '2:00', and confirm with OK. Once you click the [Play All] button, the shortened clip will be terminated after a running time of 2:00 minutes. You can insert the running time in seconds or in the format 'hours:minutes:seconds'. When entering a number like '1000 'seconds, the time will automatically be converted into '16:40', or 16 minutes and 40 seconds.
How can I mark playlists of my own or from other users as favorites?
You can add a playlist to your favorite playlists By clicking on the [Favor] button right above the video player within a playlist.
How do I publish my video playlist?
To publish your playlist click on the [Save] or [Publish] button above your playlist. Now you choose a category and tick 'Publish on Clipflakes'. If you like, you can add some information and keywords in the fields 'Description' and 'Tags'.
Can all other users see my playlists?
Only these playlists you have made are visible to others by publishing them. These will appear first on the Home page and if they are often seen also at Popular Playlists.
How can I make a playlist which I already published invisible to other users?
At 'My Clipflakes' you click on 'Edit' above the selected playlist. Then you can tick the checkbox 'Publish on Clipflakes' again and confirm with 'Save'.
How can I delete a playlist?
Logg in and click on the 'Delete' link right above one of your playlists.
Why may some videos of a playlist sometimes not be played back?
Some videos, although they were found, can not be played back in your country or they are already deleted. In that case, just click on [Next], then playback immediately goes on with the next clip.
How do I find out about new playlists of other users?
You will be regularly informed about new playlists of other users in your profile if you tick the plus sign next to their profile image.
What is a playlist?
A playlist is a compilation of different videos which you or another user has independently put together. Click the [Play all]-button or one of the video thumbnails of the playlist and the clips will all play back one after another - no matter which video platform they are from. During playback you can jump to the next, previous or a certain video from the playlist.
How can I recommend playlists to my friends?
By clicking on the [Share] button right above your playlist. A box will open up and you can recommend the playlist via Facebook, Twitter or email.
How do I rate playlists of other users?
By clicking the number of stars you want to give. You can give up to six stars for a playlist. You´ll find the stars for rating below each playlist.
What is My Clipflakes?
My Clipflakes is your personal profile page. To the right you'll see the last playlist made by you as well as your favorite playlists below. On the left you can watch the activities of those users you follow. You can change your profile settings under [Settings].
How do I sign up as a Twitter user?
If you are registered with Twitter, you can sign up on Clipflakes in two steps: Simply go to Twitter Connect or click on the [Sign in with Twitter] button right on the Signup page. Enter your Twitter username and password (if you are not logged in at Twitter yet) – and by clicking on [Authorize app], you're in.
How can I embed a playlist in my blog or my website?
This is not possible yet, but we are working on it.
How can I collect score points?
Once you have registered with Clipflakes, you have the possibility to collect score points as follows:
| If you have created a playlist and saved it | 25 score points |
| For posting a comment on a playlist of another user | 5 score points |
| For every new follower | 2 score points |
| For every user you follow | 1 score point |
| For each playlist you chose as one of your favorites | 1 score points |
| For each log in | 1 score points |
What are the system requirements to use all the features of Clipflakes?
Your computer should meet the following minimum requirements: Windows XP, Linux or Mac OS X 10.3; Firefox 3, Chrome, Internet Explorer 7 or Safari 3; Adobe Flash Player 9; broadband internet connection with at least 1 Mbps. We recommend Mozilla Firefox 3 or higher on Windows or Mac OS X!
